Contacts info
The question I have is about contacts, namely capturing related information (address, phone, fax, e-mail, etc) as well as contact relationships...very important. As I understand it this has been a topic of recent discussion, but perhaps you can elaborate here. Also...curious about the use of contact categories.

Dan, thanks.
We have gone back and forth about how much data we want to collect here. We had hoped that users might be comfortable just linking their Onit profile to their LinkedIn profile and then there would be no duplication. But we know that doesn't work for everyone.
Next week we will roll out more detailed profile info (like the fields you suggested.) I am curious about how you see "contact categories" having relevance here. You don't mean for this to be a CRM do you?
Thanks,

Hi Eric: Well, no not CRM. However, in just about any scenario I can think of, the ability to create a relationship between an individual and a firm/employer/company is vital. As for the details I mentioned in my question, if OnIt can relate back to another source for that information that may be fine. I'll reserve further comment for next week based on coming updates. I just need to better understand as to how that would work.

You are right about a basic relationship with an entity. That will be part of what we do. When I heard contact categories, my mind immediately went to something different: namely, relating contacts to sales funnel categories and things like that. Obviously not what you meant.
Thanks and look for better profile information next week. -

The part about categories that I didn't elaborate on would simply be to identify them (as well as entities) in some identifying way (law firm, attorney, etc). I would think that will be essential for the future e-billing functionality.
